Throughout her life, Sara Evans only held only one goal: create and sing country songs. "God has placed me on this earth as a singer," said Evans, according to John Meroney of American Enterprise. It's my passion and the thing I'm going to do. Evans also wanted to be successful by returning to traditional country music, which was popularized by legendary artists like Patsy Cline and Hank Snow. Also, she was influenced from George Jones, Tammy Wynette as well as Patty Loveless. Through the 1990s, an era when most aspiring country singers turned to modern, pop radio-friendly tunes, Evans made her initial mark by performing country songs that looked to the past as demonstrated by her debut album from 1997, True Lies. True Lies was not a huge success, even though it was well received by critics and being awarded an Academy of Country Music nomination for the top female vocalist. Evans is set to release her follow-up album that year, No Place That Far was the result of bowing to producers that convinced her to upgrade her repertoire. Finally, she received the recognition that she has had her heart set on since her childhood. Sara Evans was born February 5th, 1971 at Columbia, Missouri. Her early years were spent in Columbia, Missouri alongside her six siblings and five brothers.
